Le premier Redbull BC One Cypher au Canada a pris place le 6 Juin et Effect a été sélectionné comme l’un des meilleurs pour représenter le Canada. Malgre que sa performance n’ait pas été proche de ses attentes due à certaines complications, il a quand même bien représenté et donner son 100%. Le tout s’est suivi avec un voyage intéressant à New York ou Effect et Afternoon ont pris part à des auditions pour la série The Get Down. Série originale Netflix situé dans les années 70 remplis de culture Hip Hop. Malgré qu’un rôle n’ait pu être obtenus faute de documentation nécessaire, d’avoir été rappeler à participer à quand même une grande valeur vue le nombre et le calibre des Bboys ayant auditionne. Afternoon s’est par la suite déplacé à Chicago afin de prendre part à la compétition Slick City 2 ou il se rendit en final dans la catégorie Toprock où il perdu contre Man Of God un natif de Chicago. De retour à Montréal, il prit par a deux compétitions 3vs3 tout seul. L’une qu’il remporta haut la main et l’autre où il perdu en tie-breaker. Finalement le mois pris fin avec la compétition Allstyles et House Om où Effect fut juge.

The first ever Redbull BC One Canada Cypher took place in Toronto on June 6th and Effect was selected as one of Canada’s best to go and represent. Although his performance wasn’t as good as he would of hoped due to complications, he nonetheless represented well and gave it his all. The month continued with a very interesting trip to New York where Effect and Afternoon took part in the auditions for The Get Down. The Get Down is a Netflix original series set in the early 70s with all the Hip hop you can handle. Unfortunately, due to paperwork issues, a role couldn’t be secured after the auditions but getting a callback from the slew of Bboys there was significant. Afternoon went on to Chicago to battle at the Slick City event where he made it all the way to finals in the 1vs1 toprock competition, losing to Chicago native Man Of God. Back in Montreal he went on to participate in two 3vs3 competitions on his own. One which he won and the other where he lost in a tiebreaker. Finally the month ended with the Om House battle where Effect was the Allstyles and House judge.

Mis à part battles et show, un petit projet a su rendre le mois de mai très spécial. Le crew a pris pars à l’organisation de Breaking Barriers avec Bgirl Redge du Ngen Youth Center. Breaking Barriers avait pour but de rassemble 16 à 20 jeunes breakers de Montréal et Hamilton à participer à la retraite à Montréal afin d’échanger connaissances et histoires en lien avec le break et la culture Hip Hop. Le programme était incroyable et a permis à plusieurs de faire des rencontres et grandir. En même temps à Ottawa Manifesto a organiser la première édition de la competition Hip Hop Playground. Rascallion a pris la catégorie Bboying tandis que Afternoon s’est contente de la catégorie Hip Hop.

Aside from battles and shows, the month of May was mainly made special by a little project the crew took part in organizing. With Bgirl Redge from the Ngen youth center Breaking Barriers came to Montreal. The project was to gather young breakers 16 to 20 from Hamilton, ON and Montreal, QC to participate in the Breaking Barriers retreat in Montreal and exchange knowledge and histories relating to Breaking and our Hiphop culture. The program was amazing fun and got people to connect and grow. At the same time back in Ottawa Manifesto was holding its first ever Hip Hop Playground competition. Rascallion took the Bboying category while Afternoon settled with Hip Hop.

Le mois d’avril a débuté à l’université McGill ou ils ont donné un workshop sur certains des éléments du Hip Hop a des étudiants. Effect a couvert le Break tandis qu’Afternoon leur a montrer un peu de DJing. Le collectif a aussi organiser le premier Forum de Danses De Rue de Montréal afin de réunir la communauté autour de certains points et ce qui a besoin d’être fait afin de bouger de l’avant ensemble. Finalement ils ont organisé Kids Of the City, la compétition annuelle de danses de rue jeunesse 1vs1 en Bboying, Popping et Hip Hop.

For April, they kicked off the month at McGill University where they gave a workshop to some of the University’s students. Effect took care of Breaking while Afternoon was showing them a bit of DJing. The collective also held the first Montreal Street Dance Forum in order to gather the community around its issues and what needs to be done to move forward together. Last they held Kids Of The City, the annual 1vs1 Youth Dance Competition in Bboying, Hip Hop and Popping.

En mars 2015 le collectif a voyage vers New York City afin de prendre part au Dance Society Battle Vol 1. Un très bon événement avec plusieurs invites intéressant de partout à travers le monde. De retour au Canada, Afternoon a été invite à juger Heir To The Throne, un battle alliant vétérans et nouveaux venus de la scène à s’affronter en duo. Dans le même mois, Effect et Afternoon ont été défendre leur titre comme champions All Styles à La Preuve à St-Jérôme et ont su garder leur titre. Voici quelques vidéos.

March 2015 saw the crew travelling to New York City to take part in the Dance Society Battle Vol. The event was very good with some very interesting guests from all over the world. Back in Canada, Afternoon went to judge one of the hypest All Styles battles called Heir To The Throne partnering veterans and newcomers to duel in groups of two. Within the same month, Effect and Afternoon went on to defend their title as raining champions at the La Preuve All Styles dance competition in St-Jérôme and took home the win once again. Février 2015 a été un mois tranquille. Mis à part les ateliers et performances scolaires il n’y avait pas énormément de compétitions locales. Le groupe a performe au Morning Gloryville, un rave matinal remplis de positivité. Voyez si vous pouvez les repérer dans ce vidéo
